During the Christmas season, Pete and his family attended the lighting of the National Tree at the President’s Park, the Ellipse.  It is a tradition that has been upheld since 1923.  At the ceremony, President Obama and his family lit the tree, and several musical performers including Sheryl Crow and Jordin Sparks performed for the crowd.  American Idol Judge Randy Jackson hosted the evening’s event.

This past Easter, Pete and his family attended the annual Easter Egg Roll at the White House in Washington, DC.  While there, Pete was greeted by President Obama and Vice President Biden.  Both thanked him for his service in the military.

Last summer, Polar Pete participated in the filming of a documentary on ice cream trucks.  He was shadowed by cameras for four days as the film crew tried to capture what it is like to be Polar Pete.  Thanks to all of the Polar Pete fans who participated!  We’ll update you when it is released!

Polar Pete and his 1966 Good Humor truck were used in the filming of a major motion picture starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet.  The movie was released in January 2009.
